Sutter Health affiliate California Pacific Medical Center's goal is to develop an efficient citywide system of care delivery. The 80-bed St. Luke's replacement hospital will continue to maintain and improve critical services such as emergency department, birthing, medical/surgical, ICU, urgent care, and senior health.

Using an adopted LEAN process, the Boulder Associates/Smith Group team has taken an approach that breaks down traditional department hierarchies and allows for more flexibility in shared-space areas. The team is also helping Sutter Health and CPMC look at enterprise-wide resources for the entire system, such as centralizing aspects of food preparation, sterilization, and other services currently provided at multiple sites.
