Case Study: People’s Clinic Day Family Health Center

June 1, 2010

This 21,120 s.f. Clinica Family Health Services community health center, a gut and remodel of an existing clinic space, was designed with both the client’s program and the project’s environmental footprint in mind. Cost savings and material conservation were achieved by working closely with the client and contractor to identify components of the former build-out that could be reused or re-purposed in the new space. The addition of water-saving fixtures and a photovoltaic array helped the client achieve their goal of decreased operational costs, while PVC-free flooring materials acknowledged the need for social justice by minimizing environmental toxins. Salvaging components from a previous build-out and reducing on-going energy bills through the use of on-site renewables were key focuses.
