We Care 2014.
December 10, 2014
On December 10, the OC Boulder Associates Architects office spent an afternoon with elementary school children, ages 5-10 years old, as part of Herman Miller’s We Care Holiday Event, a nation-wide program that pairs local design firms with at-risk and low-income children to create homemade holiday gifts.
The OC team researched different craft ideas and ultimately went with the personalized candles. “We really wanted to do something different and creative,” explained Nancy Sprute. “We did a test run first to make sure the craft would be easy enough for the younger kids to do.” The event was held at the Boys & Girls Club of the Harbor Area which serves at-risk youth in the Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach areas. And after two hours of arts and crafts, 100 children went home with personalized candles.
