Boulder Community Foothills Hospital Expansion  |  Boulder, Colorado

This project represents the second phase of the original master plan for this greenfield campus. It added 124,000 s.f. in the form of two new inpatient wings to the existing 165,000 s.f. hospital, as well as a new 45,000 s.f. medical office building to supplement the existing 99,000 s.f. medical office building. 54,000 s.f. was added to the existing parking garage, topped off with a new helipad.

This complex, 13-phased project with multiple sub-phases included renovating 85,000 s.f. of existing hospital space as well, all the time minimizing disruption of ongoing operations. This challenge was most evident in the addition that was built directly over the existing ED. We managed to successfully accomplish this and renovate the ED, more than doubling its size, without ever closing. The new 18-bed ICU and 18-bed Comprehensive Cancer Program look out over two of the seven new gardens.
