Dignity Health Mercy Imaging Center and Cancer Center  |  Sacramento, California

This 31,800 s.f. integrated imaging and cancer facility—the first of its kind in the region—was renovated to offer radiation therapy, infusion therapy, and integrative medicine services to the community. The design was mindful of the existing art-deco inspired architectural style; partially exposed re-stained wood beams reveal the history and original character of this old cannery building. New entries direct patients to the separate imaging and oncology waiting areas, each with 15-foot high ceilings that allow for generous daylighting. Detailed landscaping, including a private rock garden for infusion patients, was added to complement the existing mature trees and shrubs and soften the building’s perimeter.

The facilities’ diagnostic and treatment capabilities include some of the most sensitive instruments available. The imaging center operates alongside the cancer center and provides the latest technology including PET/CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, mammography, and bone density screening. A resource library is also provided for staff and patients.
