Integrated Project Delivery  |  Integrated Project Delivery Team Coaching and Training

Boulder Associates has worked on a combined $4.5 billion of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) projects, and our staff have logged more than 100,000 hours working in co-located Big Rooms on ILPD Projects. Our experience and engagement in learning with the Lean Construction Institute has put us in a leadership position to teach the key elements required to build a successfully Integrated Project Delivery team. This curriculum includes:
• Basic Lean Instruction
• IPD Team Coaching
• IPD Functional Methodology
• Lean Leadership Tools
• Building Work Planning Skills

In addition to training materials for setting up an IPD team, we have developed functional rubrics to measure team performance as a way of bringing PDCA into the IPD Team process. The rubrics allow us to monitor implementation of the team structure by measuring against carefully defined attributes across all levels of the team, from cluster group mechanics through all-hands Big Room activities. By assessing the team a regular intervals, we can identify areas for improvement, put in place a plan for improvement, and measure again.

Our lean expertise extends beyond projects to our own internal operations where we use Last Planner™ as our operating system. As stated by the Lean Construction Institute, Last Planner is a collaborative, commitment-based planning system that integrates should-can-will-did planning with constraint analysis, weekly work planning based upon reliable promises, and learning based upon analysis of PPC (plan percent complete) and reasons for variance. We have spent that last decade customizing Last Planner for the design phase and now use it to run design work and daily operations of of our architectural practice. This uniquely qualifies Boulder Associates to help designers better engage as contributors on integrated projects.
