Children’s Hospital Colorado Pharmacy Remodel
Aurora, Colorado
This 1,600 s.f. remodel of an existing outpatient pharmacy in an operational children’s hospital enabled Children’s Hospital Colorado to replace an existing third-party pharmacy, whose lease was expiring, with their own outpatient pharmacy.
Because the pharmacy was changing hands from a third party to CHCO, the suite was gutted and redesigned from its previous state and expanded into an adjacent space. In addition to the storefront area, the pharmacy contains a small consult room, non-hazardous and non-sterile compounding areas, pharmacist and tech work areas, and storage.
This location within the hospital enables parents to pick up their child’s prescription without needing to leave the premises; because of this, it was essential to design and construct the project quickly to avoid a lapse in service. The BA team designed the space before the previous tenant vacated the suite, and construction began the day after they moved out and was completed on a compact six-week timeline.
