Clinica Family Health Services People’s Clinic
Boulder, CO
This 21,120 s.f. community health center, a complete remodel of an existing clinic space, was designed with both the client’s program and the project’s environmental footprint in mind.
The clinic’s program involves a pod-based practice approach. The space was organized into three color-coded practice team areas, each with its own distinct waiting area. The clinical areas have centralized, open office pods that are surrounded by exam rooms. This arrangement allows for improved staff communication and easy visual coordination of patients, providers and rooms. These design solutions catered to Clinica’s model of collaborative team care, and helped it achieve NCQA PCMH Level 3 recognition.
Cost savings and material conservation were achieved by working closely with the client and contractor to identify numerous components of the former build-out that could be reused or repurposed in the new space. The addition of water-saving fixtures and a 42 kW photovoltaic array helped the client achieve their goal of decreased operational costs, while PVC-free flooring materials help to minimize environmental toxins.
