Denver Health Emergency Department Infill

Denver Health Emergency Department Infill

Denver, CO

This complex multi-phased project was a 90,990 s.f. infill project within an operating Level I trauma center. It involved 110 patient treatment areas, including adult urgent care, pediatric ED, psych ED, triage, medicine, observation, trauma, imaging and a prisoner holding suite. The 80,000 s.f. was comprised of an addition, total renovation of vacated clinic space and an existing ED, and fit-out of shelled space.

The significant challenge in this project was completing the work with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. This was successfully met by careful phasing and coordination, including well planned and well executed interim life safety and infection control plans. 3-D coordination involving the architect, owner, consultants, contractor, and sub-contractors allowed the team to resolve conflicts prior to construction and was a significant factor in meeting the project’s schedule and budget.
