Newport Beach Gastroenterology Ambulatory Surgery Center

Newport Beach, California

The Hoag 500 Superior Gastroenterology Ambulatory Surgery Center is an expansion of the existing Hoag GI Surgery Center on the Newport Beach campus, reinforcing Hoag’s commitment to comprehensive digestive health services. Developed in partnership with Sovereign Healthcare, the project doubles endoscopy capacity by adding two procedure rooms and a larger procedure room designed for future conversion to a full operating room. The expansion integrates seamlessly with established campus operations, supporting both current needs and evolving service demands.

The new suite includes flexible pre- and post-operative bays that can be used interchangeably to optimize patient flow and operational efficiency. One procedure room incorporates infrastructure for future surgical-level conversion, including upgraded mechanical systems, filtration, and provisions for increased air changes. This adaptable approach enables the facility to expand service offerings with minimal disruption.

Design and construction were closely coordinated to address limited floor-to-floor heights and incomplete existing documentation. Mechanical systems were thoughtfully integrated to support Hoag’s vision for the arrival experience while meeting technical performance standards. The resulting expansion enhances procedural capacity and strengthens Hoag’s Digestive Health Institute’s presence on campus.
