Russell Investments Rainier Square Tower
Seattle, WA
Russell Investments’ new 70,000-square-foot workplace in Seattle’s Rainier Square Tower represents a significant milestone for a firm with longstanding ties to the Pacific Northwest. Following its move from its historic headquarters, the company prioritized a more efficient footprint. The resulting workplace is designed to support both client engagement and daily performance, with regional context informing key design decisions.
Every element — from thoughtfully positioned meeting areas to shared social zones — is intended to enhance the client experience by providing comfortable, high-performance settings that support productive discussions and seamless collaboration. Brass accents throughout the interiors create warmth and visual continuity, while custom slat wall installations depicting local mountain ranges connect the space to the surrounding landscape and reinforce the firm’s brand identity. A central connecting stair, framed by full-height glass and highlighted by a custom lighting installation, links multiple levels and establishes a strong sense of openness and connection across the workplace. This visual link supports intuitive movement and interaction between clients and teams.
The workplace is organized to accommodate a range of functions, including expansive trading floors that maximize daylight and city views, as well as sophisticated, material rich client-facing environments. Key spaces such as the boardroom and employee gathering areas are located along the building’s angled exterior, where dramatic geometry and framed views toward Puget Sound create distinctive spatial experiences.
The program incorporates a dedicated media studio with a cyclorama wall, advanced presentation spaces, and flexible collaboration areas to support evolving communication needs. The completed workplace honors Russell Investments’ legacy while providing an environment that is rooted in its context and designed for high performance.
