UCLA North Hollywood Sleep & Vein Clinic

UCLA North Hollywood Sleep & Vein Clinic

Hollywood, CA

This project is a 6,000-square-foot tenant improvement located on the first floor of an existing medical office building in which UCLA Health occupies multiple floors. Licensed under OSHPD 3, the project delivers a dual-function outpatient clinic combining a vein and interventional radiology program with an overnight sleep study center. The shared-use model allows daytime vein clinic operations to seamlessly transition to overnight polysomnography, serving both adult and pediatric patients within a single clinic.

The design follows UCLA Health’s established interior standards, maintaining continuity with the client’s other clinics in the building. Sleep rooms are organized for private, comfortable patient stays, with pediatric rooms incorporating Murphy beds to accommodate crib placement and caregiver co-sleeping.

Early coordination with the city plan checker allowed the project to be permitted as an amendment to an existing permit, preserving the original code cycle and avoiding a full review under the updated California Building Code. Structural and construction challenges at the building’s perimeter were resolved through a light-framing alternative that maintained fire ratings while reducing cost. Coordination with the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that the existing emergency relay system met fire-life-safety requirements without additional measures.
